4. Special Instructions and Exceptions

Prior to downloading new setup data from a PC into the EMR3 Display Head, the Display Head must be powered on and in the C&C (calibration and configuration) mode. Also the respective serial port type must be set to OBC, prior to connecting with the PC.

The EMR3 Display Head hardware as well as the PC Setup Program must use the same Language and Temperature selections prior to downloading or uploading data.

If the PC Setup Program will be downloading information in French, FRENCH must be selected at the Display Head under the C&C menu for LANGUAGE, prior to performing a download from a PC. For temperature units set to degrees Celsius, CELSIUS must be selected at the Display Head under the C&C menu for TEMPERATURE COMPENSATION, prior to downloading from the PC.

Also, make sure the System Capabilities or Product Features of the Display Head, such as Temperature Compensation and Currency, match the settings in the PC Setup Program.

Tank ID - The PC Setup Program should not be used to upload the Tank ID Field from one EMR3 and then download it to another. Doing so will result in corrupting the Tank ID information.

Calibration - The recommended method of calibrating the Display Head is to follow the AUTO CALIBRATE setup procedure located in the EMR3 Setup manual and make all required entries directly
into the Display Head.

Multi-Calibration - If Multi-Calibration is desired, follow the MULTICALIBRATE setup in the EMR3 Setup manual and make all required entries directly into the Display Head.

Manual Calibration - If Manual Calibration is desired, the recommended procedure is to follow the MANUAL CALIBRATE setup in the EMR3 Setup manual and make all required entries directly into the Display Head.

Pricing - If downloading Prices (via a price code) to the Display Head, always assign a Tax Code to each of the active Price Codes. This is the case even if no value is assigned to the given Tax Code.

Download - When using the Selective Download feature for manual calibration, both boxes for Fuel Sources and Manual Calibration must be checked in order to download the correct values for Manual Calibration. In order for the EMR3 Display Head to accept the newly downloaded setup data, power must be cycled to the EMR3 System.

Note: A failure to cycle power, off, and then on, after performing a download, will result in improper operation of the EMR3 system. Double check that all of the EMR3 Setup and C&C
data is correct once the Download is completed.

5. Installation for a PC running the Windows XP operating system

Administrator Privileges - Prior to installing and running the Setup Tool, the user must log on to the PC as an administrator (may require a password). The Setup Tool will not run correctly or may run but generate numerous errors if this step is not followed.

a) On the PC, set the Operating System Language Option to: English (United States).

b) Insert the EMR3 CD into the disk drive on the PC. If the PC has the auto-run feature turned on, cancel out of the setup program and go to the next step.

c) Right click the file setup.exe and select: RUN AS AN ADMINISTRATOR or run as a user with administrator privileges or select properties, select compatibility and change the privilege level to: RUN THIS PROGRAM AS AN ADMINSTRATOR. Then select: OK. Completing this step may require a password.

Run-Time Errors: Failure to log on to the PC as ADMINISTRATOR may result in the following errors appearing on the information bar located at the bottom of the screen, "Error in accessing the file" or "Error 5 NAK Action can't be performed."
